Rob Knox, 18, was stabbed after he got caught up in a fight outside a bar in southwest London early Saturday, London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
Knox plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby in the upcoming film “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince,” the sixth installment of the popular series set for release in November.
Warner Bros., the studio that is producing the film, said it was shocked by the news.
Knox was one of five young men taken to various hospitals after the brawl, police said. Among them was a 21-year-old who has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The fight did not appear to be gang-related, police added, but it puts the number of violent teenage deaths in London at 14 so far this year.
Family and friends have paid tribute to teenager Rob Knox who was stabbed to death in a bar fight in London.
Shocked friends of the 18-year-old gathered at the Metro bar in Sidcup where the incident occurred.
A 21-year-old man who suffered facial injuries is in police custody on suspicion of murder.
Rob’s cousin Vicky May, 16, said the former Beths Grammar School student was more like her big brother.
“You never think it will happen to you. Rob wasn’t a thug, it wasn’t gang-related. Everyone loved him. He was more like a brother, he would always look out for me. He was friends with so many people.”
Friend Liberty Butcher said: “He would never start an argument. He would have been the one to stick up for someone. Her had so much going for him.”
Rob’s friend Tom Hopkins, 18, said he pinned down a man with a knife outside the bar with friend Tarik Ozress, 17. Tom was stabbed in the head during the fight.
He said: “Rob was just trying to help out. He was like that. I grabbed the knife, I didn’t know at the time that he had another knife. It was just chaos.”
Four people, all male, were taken to local hospitals after the Station Road incident.
A 21-year-old and 16-year-old suffered serious injuries, while another male was treated for minor facial injuries.
Station Road has been closed while police teams investigate the site.
